Stone Theory Studio was founded in 2019 with a single conviction: that the materials shaping our most private spaces deserve the same consideration as the finest furniture or jewellery.

We began at the intersection of two of Indonesia's great creative traditions — the aesthetic sensibility of Bali and the deep craft culture of Yogyakarta, a city whose artisans have worked stone, metal, and wood for centuries. Our studio sits within that lineage, drawing on it rather than romanticising it.

Every piece leaves our Yogyakarta workshop by hand. Every finish is earned, not applied.

On terrazzo and composite mineral stone

We work primarily in composite mineral stone — a premium material that captures the depth, warmth, and grain of natural stone while offering greater structural integrity and design precision. It does not crack under thermal stress. It does not require the constant sealing that natural marble demands. It ages with dignity.

Terrazzo, in our hands, is not a surface treatment. It is a considered choice — aggregates selected for their texture and light response, set within a matrix that will hold its character for decades.

We offer full customisation: form, dimension, aggregate composition, and finish. No two pieces are identical, because no two commissions begin from the same brief.

We work with clients at every stage — from initial concept sketches through to delivery and installation guidance. For international commissions, we ship worldwide from our factory in Indonesia, handling logistics with the same care we give the craft.

From brief to piece

Consultation — We begin with your space: dimensions, context, existing materials, and the feeling you are working toward. Every commission opens with a conversation.

Design — Our team produces detailed drawings and, where required, material samples. Aggregate combinations, finish options, and edge profiles are confirmed before production begins.

Craft — Each piece is hand-cast, hand-finished, and cured at our Yogyakarta workshop. Production typically spans four to eight weeks depending on complexity and volume.

Delivery — We ship internationally via specialist freight partners, crated and packed to museum standards. Installation guidance is provided for every commission.

We believe the bathroom is one of the few spaces in a home that is entirely yours — unshared, unhurried. What occupies it should reflect that. Stone Theory Studio exists to make objects worthy of that room: precise in form, honest in material, and built to be handed down rather than replaced.
